If You Are Suffering from Allergies, Asthma, Headaches or Sinus Congestion... Then Getting Rid of Mould Should Be Your #1 Priority!
Mould can have a severe adverse effect on allergy or asthma sufferers, the elderly, children (their lungs are still developing) ...and people with medical conditions or those who are recovering from a medical condition i.e.: heart attack.
Health Canada considers mould growth in residential buildings to be a potential health hazard. People living in buildings where mould grows are more likely to suffer from health problems, especially symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, and headaches. Asthmatics are especially at risk as mould may trigger asthma attacks.

If you have a musty odour in your home; have an area that will not dry or you have repeat cold or respiratory symptoms, you probably have mould.
The most common places to have mould growth are the:
- Basement
- Attic
- Bathrooms
- Rooms wherever there is leakage from either the roof, a window or the exterior brick/siding
If you live in a building, the most common area for mould growth is the fan coil unit. This should be removed immediately for the obvious reason; the fan blows mould contaminated air throughout your unit.
The main ingredient mould needs to grow is water. This water can be in the form of a:
- Leak
- Flood
- Excessive Humidity
...and in most basements in the form of condensation.

It is best to have mould testing done to determine what type of removal needs to be done. Testing tells the type of mould but more importantly it tells how much mould is in the air and how far the mould has dispersed from the actual spot where it started.
In most cases you should not attempt to remove mould yourself. In Canada, employees who remove mould are protected under The Occupational Health and Safety Act. They must be taught about mould and must be provided with respirators and protective clothing, all to protect their health, specifically their lungs.

Walter Knox“The disposal costs certainly are lower than expected. Thanks for a job well done. I have seen Peter a couple of times and I am just as impressed with the work your crew has been doing. You mentioned during our last phone call that you could suggest some people who may be good at rebuilding the house. If they work as well as your crew, I would certainly be interested in contacting them.
